He truly likes keeping in touch with people and sending funny messages. He is getting ready to take the written driver's test, so he can have a learner's permit, and in April, he will be able to date (we already know, as he's said, that his first date is going to be with a girl named Alyssa, whom he has liked for more than a year and with whom he has been good friends)! He is still a builder and creator, and his art work gets better and better. I'm trying to make some posters of his "robotech" style drawings. They are truly amazing and will, I think, look awesome up on his wall.</span> <div><div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-family:georgia;"></span></div><div>The most fun as a family that we had during this past year, was right before school started and we went down to Capitol Reef State Park, here in Utah. AMAZING place! It is beautiful in a stark, sheer mountain type of way. There are no words that can do it justice, so I'm going to put in a slide show of our adventure, and then you can also watch this little video we have of the boys. </div><div> </div><div>There was a place in the park where the water was accessible and many people like to wade and jump into the deeper parts from some cliffs above. We decided it was too crowded to hang around when we first found it, and decided to come back after dinner. Good choice! We basically had the entire place to ourselves (aside from one French family that joined us briefly). The boys were just crazy and I had to hold my breath each time they jumped. But, I couldn't help but love the look on their faces as they would leap off the cliff.</div><div><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8laaaqBwdD6Exbi-dwv59LF9sGk5BeYphPc_LBhb1Isjwb7GuAXixBfJXKLg9dIHP4lrw9iaBGJ-rqBHQsW8G1OrRlYCHGg5s0_-DgEuH3nH3HkkDijHC_Iu1ByuBB0-IZDjl8oS_3vy-/s1600-h/IMG_0871.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416355455321661106" style="WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8laaaqBwdD6Exbi-dwv59LF9sGk5BeYphPc_LBhb1Isjwb7GuAXixBfJXKLg9dIHP4lrw9iaBGJ-rqBHQsW8G1OrRlYCHGg5s0_-DgEuH3nH3HkkDijHC_Iu1ByuBB0-IZDjl8oS_3vy-/s400/IMG_0871.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /></div><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn1K9aAtnx5YwRPXJNz6T3IySou3OrrY4ij0ms2LWPKqkXENeBYqchSS_ZA_UZ3TJdufEYp-akG7oihQKuKefWB12BVzsaX2KwCVCw-Mu257AZboyNxoBFgiXRnOAObbRlDhem9luxKrmb/s1600-h/IMG_0877.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416355468820553698" style="WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn1K9aAtnx5YwRPXJNz6T3IySou3OrrY4ij0ms2LWPKqkXENeBYqchSS_ZA_UZ3TJdufEYp-akG7oihQKuKefWB12BVzsaX2KwCVCw-Mu257AZboyNxoBFgiXRnOAObbRlDhem9luxKrmb/s400/IMG_0877.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixZGIPbjz-hXVXPnSUa5Fd3_ggilnsDz6lcSHxB7h_qkPch1W1UVfLkNfQIyYke8KJPoi-P2lR1WBUIV5-xEmJ7T8bLgGYucPGw0CS3PntlMA4WvKG3FgP_b6Uec6pSnj5hAaRQPJgnIDG/s1600-h/IMG_0872.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416355463098463954" style="WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixZGIPbjz-hXVXPnSUa5Fd3_ggilnsDz6lcSHxB7h_qkPch1W1UVfLkNfQIyYke8KJPoi-P2lR1WBUIV5-xEmJ7T8bLgGYucPGw0CS3PntlMA4WvKG3FgP_b6Uec6pSnj5hAaRQPJgnIDG/s400/IMG_0872.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /></p><p>This trip was especially fun and important to me, as I was going to have back surgery before school started in August. I've barely been able to keep up. As you can see from the dates, it's been a YEAR since I've had the chance to sit down and update things--well, not exactly like I didn't have a chance, I just had so many things on my plate, it got put on the back burner. But, I wanted to send out my Christmas cards with a note that invited everyone to look at our family blog, to see more about our year. Therefore, I truly needed to re-arrange the "food" on my plate, so I could share something worth the look!<br /><br />The most recent pictures I have are from a visit with my Grandma, Ethel Poulton, and from my son Jacob's Christmas concert, "Christmas at the Movies". I enjoyed both of these things so much. They truly started off the Christmas season in a way that made me start to feel the spirit of the holiday; I didn't know if I wanted to face the hustle and bustle that really starts to occur at the beginning of December. I still just enjoy seeing the lights, listening to the music everywhere I go, decorating my home, and finding ways to spend more time together as a family, to learn about the real meaning of the day we celebrate. I've been trying so hard to help my family find more ways to "de-commercialize" Christmas. I love the giving and sharing, and love the chance to do both. But, even more than that, I love the calm in a house when everyone is asleep, and it's dark everywhere except for the blinking of the Christmas tree. It's peaceful, and helps me to think about the Savior's birth and the eternalness of his teachings and gifts, like the "evergreen" Christmas tree. I can think of my family--mainly the boys and feel the love they bring into my life. And, on a lighter note, if it's snowing outside and I have my soft bathrobe on with a cup of rasberry hot chocolate--it's a bonus!!<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxkiZLK9EPD_jMfY3zDszuLi8WbXCYFXDUy_KY1RvoK99N9C46lCQtQvdbtMdgHibMsAB8iBOOpbtEPK5SFxUjWIgW9jlwrr194iCw6RDoL8lUctC_BGFDTfIpaqsZNLdlG1_J-b4U4bwo/s1600-h/045.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416334495406439218" style="WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxkiZLK9EPD_jMfY3zDszuLi8WbXCYFXDUy_KY1RvoK99N9C46lCQtQvdbtMdgHibMsAB8iBOOpbtEPK5SFxUjWIgW9jlwrr194iCw6RDoL8lUctC_BGFDTfIpaqsZNLdlG1_J-b4U4bwo/s400/045.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />I just LOVE this picture. It's going to be a real treasure for me.<br /><br />Jacob has really come "out of himself" this year. He started 10th grade at Springville High School and has been loving every minute! He joined the DECCA club and has been to a competition, tried out for the school play "The Music Man" and today "Much Ado About Nothing". He didn't get a part in "The Music Man" but we'll see how it goes for "Much..." The monologue he used was from "A Midsummer Night's Dream". And, he got to go to the state championship game because he'd had perfect attendance. So, he's been running around and busy, but we've been proud of him for keeping up on his homework. I was also able to talk him into joining the all men's choir, because I've felt as his voice has been changing and he has been singing more of the hymns at church, that he has a real talent there. It just needs a little refining. So, he did, and has been enjoying that, too. Especially this Christmas concert. He practiced like crazy with everyone and even helped with the scenery.<br /><br />The concert is a fund raising event for the high school. Each year, they have parents who are willing to help, decorate a table. Then, those who have purchased tickets can attend the event and are served dinner while listening to the concert. Jacob didn't serve our table, but looked like he was being polite from a distance! I had fun decorating one of the tables, but I had even more fun eating a nice dinner (that I didn't have to clean up) and watching my son seem to just come "alive" as he sang. Hopefully I'll be able to post some of the video when I get it from the DVD. No one was allowed to film during the concert. I should also be able to post some of his fall concert video, too, once I've gotten it.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ16CTAHsJeJ9Zw-PgRMnz6DQEbZv8BK5q8yAb8GWHxgBUNpED5nZ18pMiiX6LXe7h0xtYHUFTuPQKSEYLTYevyXBY9SQmhJU6fV-_5r0cfTyyGGwfGwPzEM8CJJ7E9xFpcbjC8a21Hpb9/s1600-h/038.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416348523481852594" style="WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ16CTAHsJeJ9Zw-PgRMnz6DQEbZv8BK5q8yAb8GWHxgBUNpED5nZ18pMiiX6LXe7h0xtYHUFTuPQKSEYLTYevyXBY9SQmhJU6fV-_5r0cfTyyGGwfGwPzEM8CJJ7E9xFpcbjC8a21Hpb9/s400/038.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY07WaJgHm-JppBDeEyTnR_vYdjxJjwA5B5MjE5FviDnjIbi1zOGBY3s2TYNCFUM0GthDqZ40A5a8PBlp1b6C3TKA6k-Rl4MGDf8IAk5NpsTiJllvrzZ9RtNMrpSr2gnrBmm1-NlcdFIfc/s1600-h/042.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416348548153860306" style="WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY07WaJgHm-JppBDeEyTnR_vYdjxJjwA5B5MjE5FviDnjIbi1zOGBY3s2TYNCFUM0GthDqZ40A5a8PBlp1b6C3TKA6k-Rl4MGDf8IAk5NpsTiJllvrzZ9RtNMrpSr2gnrBmm1-NlcdFIfc/s400/042.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYYRnaDLBoDjAN9nucQIaJVD9ruDPo0NwKRu1XrQ4MFunuw4sLFAt69fAaHc0Br3C0SWKmBZsK23OH62vtL0UbOkuOvsqAwWQugzu5TV6SAOpqplMG6AnwsUzfeB6bE-Sbn4tWWzBq2qDG/s1600-h/041.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416348537012948530" style="WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYYRnaDLBoDjAN9nucQIaJVD9ruDPo0NwKRu1XrQ4MFunuw4sLFAt69fAaHc0Br3C0SWKmBZsK23OH62vtL0UbOkuOvsqAwWQugzu5TV6SAOpqplMG6AnwsUzfeB6bE-Sbn4tWWzBq2qDG/s400/041.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:0;"></span>The Stradling 5http://www.blogger.com/profile/04995021544266519284noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765430646201668235.post-85515542396396128182008-10-22T13:40:00.001-07:002008-10-22T13:44:32.515-07:00Well, I don't really have anything new to put on here just yet, as far as pictures go, but I thought I would at least add something "Halloweeny" to the page. I'm working on a video that will show you a group of 5th-6th graders doing some funny body percussion routines to the theme from the "Addams Family" as a Halloween activity during music class. The ones the kids have made up thus far have been really funny. Otherwise, you can probably tell what's been going on at my house based on my poll questions--getting children to do their chores, and prepping for Halloween. So...that's about it for now.The Stradling 5http://www.blogger.com/profile/04995021544266519284noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765430646201668235.post-50493742845425367592008-09-21T19:17:00.000-07:002008-09-21T19:40:20.410-07:00It's been almost a month, but I've been running around like crazy starting work again, and all of the things with Doug changing his shift at work around....But, it was so nice, when my sister Lana, my Mom, and my sis-n-laws Liza and Breanne created a night out for me for my birthday. I was sick on the actual day, therefore didn't really do anything fun. So, they planned a "Night at the Spa" for me. There was great food (which I could eat most of, yah!!) a fun movie, and pedicures for everyone. Lana did mine for me, and they had all gotten me this great pedicure set to take home with a great new nail polish color. I know it might seem a bit crazy, but one of the thoughts that came to my head as my sister was washing my feet, and taking such good care of me, is that it reminded me of the Savior washing the feet of his apostles. I think the love shown in both situations was the same. So, here are a few of those pictures, as well as a new large one<br /><div><div><div><div>from the weekend before when my brother Ben and his family were visiting. Jacob is now a Freshman in High School (although 9th here is still in the Jr. High), Jeremy is in Junior High, and Cody, too, is moving right up in 3rd Grade. We're all going back, and now we have to keep track! Jacob is at Mapleton Jr. High, Jeremy is at Spanish Fork Jr. High, Cody is at Cherry Creek Elementary, and I'm at Mapleton Elementary. We've got quite the calendar! Thank goodness this is all in the same school district! <div><div><div><div><div><div><div>I'm still having a hard time wrapping my mind around how fast time really has gone by. I look and see all of my nieces and nephews who are heading off to pre-school and kindergarten for the first time. They are so excited and happy, and it seems like only yesterday that I was looking at them in the hospital. I have the same feeling, much more so lately, for my own children. I realized that Jacob has lived with us now, longer than he has left before he leaves on a mission. I feel like I need to make everything count, make sure my children are faithful, dedicated to the gospel, and ready for life. I want them to be happy and enjoy life. I get to be the "bad guy" most of the time right now, while I'm trying to teach them what to do, in order to be on their own someday. </div><div>I know we are all working hard with our families, and I want my little family to be strong. I'll just plan to do some more fun ones in the future. <div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd3bxA9YmzjtcaMDBYV1eQTkhKLMGwulzgiKGyFfzrnfJQS-rAponM0lMpgzrwZVbFn8zgB3Zq78o21X2epjcJ7Zxynq9dz46i49g8muyCx-HnoOeZBmNXnfqlBJ3s4em-MrGuDFRhJ1K5/s1600-h/001.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232359400965833778" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd3bxA9YmzjtcaMDBYV1eQTkhKLMGwulzgiKGyFfzrnfJQS-rAponM0lMpgzrwZVbFn8zgB3Zq78o21X2epjcJ7Zxynq9dz46i49g8muyCx-HnoOeZBmNXnfqlBJ3s4em-MrGuDFRhJ1K5/s320/001.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>So....to start off, Jeremy had been begging us for several weeks to get him a lizard in order for him to work o<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaagySX4PQfe_gwu27rhiRW9eumLyNr5eNtgxC72-vWl6xivwq6NtTXNok3imireUAsG-852CsebOd8sqsDzCz3vKmUypTpW5QvoiHs2WHHQVYnSEicK-kjNpCteYjftfoRdrQp_h3Krux/s1600-h/001.JPG"></a>n earning his Pets Merit Badge. He didn't want to do it with one of our current pets, so we kept telling him no. Then, his YM leader, who knows that Jeremy and I love birds, came to him with something interesting. In his garage the day of Young Mens, he found, of all things, a Cockatiel bird. His house is out in a large field, with no immediate neighbors. So, it was very unusual. But, he showed it to Jeremy, and asked him if he wanted the bird, because it had obviously been cared for by someone, as it was very, very tame, coming right onto your hand without pecking and biting. We talked with some vets over the next few days, and watched him to make sure he wasn't sick, and would get over the "trauma" of all of these events and new people. He needs to have his wings clipped down some, and has the longest claw nails, but otherwise, is very pretty. We also put out the "feelers" for people in the area who might have been looking for him. Long story short--we've had Charlie (from what we've read, we're pretty sure its a boy) for almost two weeks, and he is finally starting to "come out of himself" and has been singing (the description they give for Cockatiel sounds is "screaming", and it really does sound pretty close to that) and "talking". He must have had someone working with him as he can sing a "cat call", like you would hear a man whistle at a pretty woman walking down the street. It's really quite funny. And, he is definitely a singer when the sun comes up in the morning, like our bird Chester. He is also several decibels louder than Chester! I hear Jacob in the morning, from the other room across the way, "Charlie, shut up!" But, I really love it! I love those sounds. So, Jeremy has a new friend, a working project for his merit badge, and is happy beyond measure as we got the bird a new cage and are letting him keep the bird in his room. </div><br /><br /><div>Then, this last weekend was a wedding and a baby blessing on Doug's side of the family. Although the rest of the extended family on my side went up to my nephew's baptism in Idaho, we stayed behind this time, as we don't get to do as many things with his family, as we do mine. Plus, it was going to be the first time in over 10 years that all of his brothers and sisters would be together at the same time. He had a brother coming up from Arizona, one from Idaho, and one from Nevada. They got some funny pictures of all of them together, right after the wedding ceremony. Our nephew wasn't being sealed in the temple, and his wedding was at the Somewhere Inn Time Bed and Breakfast in Lindon. And, it was outside. That was NOT fun! We were all dying in the heat, but still had an enjoyable time being with everyone. The bishop that married them gave them some really good advice, and her dress was very pretty. And, they actually had their dog bring up the rings on a pillow! That was funny to me as I'd only ever seen that done on TV! The one picture we got of just our little family together shows how the heat was getting to the boys. Since I thought it was inside, they were wearing long sleeve dress shirts. Needless to say, they kept reminding me how terrible a mother I was because I made them wear those clothes! And, after you see Doug's family picture, I think you'll understand that Doug is probably doomed to be completely bald at some point in his life. He's got a cute little round patch in the back at present, but, the genetics aren't in his favor! </div><div>The following day, we attended our other nephew's blessing of his first baby, a daughter (it's late, and I'm so tired, I can't remember some names, so I'm just leaving them all out! I know that sounds terrible!). So, it was a long weekend with company at our house, and traveling around everywhere. I was actually sick for a day after everything was over and everyone was gone, because I ate too much over the weekend, thinking what I had eaten was o.k. But...alas, it's still going to be very slow getting back to some more regular food.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjulPjGOtq4UePHGh5rRzECBnbnicT-Xzm5mVQDdXnJHLs0cdL52yJNkHIu7W6mjGfM0bJx9spaLXR7j_2IubUC9_vJhSeDMRPsMjRHPT5228GxA6pySItifDeCyTkKvk190qkNfalHDOOF/s1600-h/022.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232367226528558754" style="WIDTH: 326px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 227px" height="232" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjulPjGOtq4UePHGh5rRzECBnbnicT-Xzm5mVQDdXnJHLs0cdL52yJNkHIu7W6mjGfM0bJx9spaLXR7j_2IubUC9_vJhSeDMRPsMjRHPT5228GxA6pySItifDeCyTkKvk190qkNfalHDOOF/s320/022.JPG" width="314" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQMewtHn2T5nCk4XmpS5qUjByEnEivSjzhjZwXhGm0JPEc7RirAOITgf4azavT91YgpfO7SeHzrNi4VCV5F7J6dKLor6sbOe2QFR72Wx8Umwww9cytqMNRJeJg8ZEKglt4gD10aw0VrnxU/s1600-h/016.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232368117624059506" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQMewtHn2T5nCk4XmpS5qUjByEnEivSjzhjZwXhGm0JPEc7RirAOITgf4azavT91YgpfO7SeHzrNi4VCV5F7J6dKLor6sbOe2QFR72Wx8Umwww9cytqMNRJeJg8ZEKglt4gD10aw0VrnxU/s320/016.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRJUgCGbzBjKtOd5iBlMmJzPjRg968GTK7SOjos30XdWKf0UD6QtApcbg5VMKwOI628XMfoPaHDzyNajq2zM8PPIOj5nGnYJkryfc9C9xyGS0XZvyWk7PXYYE_YMJnZMdEm5SgwIZL-3J2/s1600-h/020.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232366944061813970" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 308px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 231px" height="199" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRJUgCGbzBjKtOd5iBlMmJzPjRg968GTK7SOjos30XdWKf0UD6QtApcbg5VMKwOI628XMfoPaHDzyNajq2zM8PPIOj5nGnYJkryfc9C9xyGS0XZvyWk7PXYYE_YMJnZMdEm5SgwIZL-3J2/s320/020.JPG" width="262" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje0a6CGWuzIaM27JOqcSmNrpdAf-9XINd-_ArtOyF7jXOllXGXKAms9EZuZIOoOixO3sfCekEa0HEhzJ5RzZbj5O9v9csy2W5-fgq9z6k8xu2DT0H_g7Y3H-r2A9S8OcxQp11FzEmTvy7r/s1600-h/029.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232367562965793858" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje0a6CGWuzIaM27JOqcSmNrpdAf-9XINd-_ArtOyF7jXOllXGXKAms9EZuZIOoOixO3sfCekEa0HEhzJ5RzZbj5O9v9csy2W5-fgq9z6k8xu2DT0H_g7Y3H-r2A9S8OcxQp11FzEmTvy7r/s320/029.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCSyH0pKuBD15bmdqeallWFj2FrSrR3AIPAkaT6x-0lD-w-WNWSM-MLoIk7mkh05h1n8hYpDoIyryS4yyS-gH1epwWdwiIzm56LfZzg7dG4hG3ydO_3_51ooN1vZ6uN5l-2fTZAZFHDQ0I/s1600-h/031.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232367805570560914" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCSyH0pKuBD15bmdqeallWFj2FrSrR3AIPAkaT6x-0lD-w-WNWSM-MLoIk7mkh05h1n8hYpDoIyryS4yyS-gH1epwWdwiIzm56LfZzg7dG4hG3ydO_3_51ooN1vZ6uN5l-2fTZAZFHDQ0I/s320/031.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div></div>The other funny thing is that Doug was called out on a Mtn. Rescue right after the wedding, so he didn't actually get to attend the reception. We were glad that he was at least able to get those pictures with his brothers and sisters before he was called away.<br /><br /><div>This rescue was quite interesting for him, as they had just practiced what they had to do on their last training day. </div><br /><div>A guy who was climbing with a buddy up Rock Canyon, ended up falling about 30 ft. He actually just missed hitting a particular spot that would have sent him down another 20 or so feet. He survived the 30 ft. with internal injuries, but most likely wouldn't have survived a 50 ft. fall! It was his buddy's fault, and the man felt really guilty. But, as you can see in the picture I'm going to put on, he tried so hard to stop him falling by holding the rope that it cut his hands.<br /></div><div>It was too dangerous for the helicopters to drop off Doug's team, so they had to hike up and then belay him down in the carrier basket. </div><br /><div>I'm always so amazed when Doug goes on these call outs. I'm SOO proud of him. He is such a good man in so many ways--but gives so much outside of himself to serve others. I truly love this quality to him.</div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwlGtUTQyY0WSS00zqd6t-RpdI8tt1BxC95GtJ0a-_10W6gwJGtiqD7CWYpOIi7YnrIdJRfhbjQHBF_76QBlcnwdciM8GJj0znjrrXrG_90lPZiPcU7Aq_hO_vy9AyeazLUuVPYsHLgxyr/s1600-h/045.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232370009392919842" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwlGtUTQyY0WSS00zqd6t-RpdI8tt1BxC95GtJ0a-_10W6gwJGtiqD7CWYpOIi7YnrIdJRfhbjQHBF_76QBlcnwdciM8GJj0znjrrXrG_90lPZiPcU7Aq_hO_vy9AyeazLUuVPYsHLgxyr/s320/045.JPG" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQUC4SrY26MCftFw0DTwQorKRB-bBBsqdX2OlmEBvXiCZJKFt_-xuhJCixYIMVb5mWqlrLVS9saDHCGUfqD67Btpi73Vj9dBcVJfZn5Pl8W-DY8hyphenhyphenvYSG0mZZoKg9dyTadFWopeRQWaHLT/s1600-h/059.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232370328156431890" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQUC4SrY26MCftFw0DTwQorKRB-bBBsqdX2OlmEBvXiCZJKFt_-xuhJCixYIMVb5mWqlrLVS9saDHCGUfqD67Btpi73Vj9dBcVJfZn5Pl8W-DY8hyphenhyphenvYSG0mZZoKg9dyTadFWopeRQWaHLT/s320/059.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju70GW5pOFUG0DJSd2Zg2YmSsLjXIr4d4N2YXlASGloIxjnuBIBetv2u0ONvSdArxcfeOtrwkAJ_Ia8pUjTFv05xQNkLB8tK8Bw0svYVSk-YvG9ncgse2dfHI4kRO-zfTmtFeH4N2l6PIX/s1600-h/060.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232370760760483698" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju70GW5pOFUG0DJSd2Zg2YmSsLjXIr4d4N2YXlASGloIxjnuBIBetv2u0ONvSdArxcfeOtrwkAJ_Ia8pUjTFv05xQNkLB8tK8Bw0svYVSk-YvG9ncgse2dfHI4kRO-zfTmtFeH4N2l6PIX/s320/060.JPG" border="0" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtO1c13SISG1hAJYbK2SMWgskxqTrAvZyeLeGuHp0Md0QMeTzcpv9cA9jv-0FJA86ATIYjfn4m6ZP_hF8-mRe_YtUNqVa6y8YhMsJo2YEd0zqW37I5ea2GUen2fvg73leW2uC8SCHLsY8Y/s1600-h/053.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232371219748823682" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtO1c13SISG1hAJYbK2SMWgskxqTrAvZyeLeGuHp0Md0QMeTzcpv9cA9jv-0FJA86ATIYjfn4m6ZP_hF8-mRe_YtUNqVa6y8YhMsJo2YEd0zqW37I5ea2GUen2fvg73leW2uC8SCHLsY8Y/s320/053.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>The Stradling 5http://www.blogger.com/profile/04995021544266519284noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765430646201668235.post-70208651062015770752008-07-25T17:27:00.000-07:002008-07-25T19:07:18.684-07:00<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>For the last few weeks, I've been working really hard to get things put together in the house. They, too, feel like more than just pictures.<br />I cried tonight, because while I was working on this, and uploading the pictures, I've been unpacking some things that needed to go in our filing cabinets. One of the Norman Rockwell collector plates that my grandmother gave to me, was on top. I let the cabinet on the top, become to top heavy, and it fell over, and broke the plate. I'm truly heartbroken about it. Jacob came in to see what had happened when he heard the crash, and told me that I should call my Dad, because he is an expert at gluing things back together. He knew, because he accidentally broke one of the plates my grandmother had given to my mother, that she put up above a door. I guess we're "two peas in a pod" when it comes to clutziness.<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7qqKbpo3AwDJ86xfPTcYbwY1JkemJXJFJQC_wNp0ZRJkZngjuFxa6vzy7kw7AiRlnyp7ZwAUpzQWxDsAIpAi_-SAfmDC2pM1zEDHcp0MHvVBEoOazFQCiHoCGtk3ph21shWyPo8Ez6I-Y/s1600-h/002+(2).JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227135476895956034" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7qqKbpo3AwDJ86xfPTcYbwY1JkemJXJFJQC_wNp0ZRJkZngjuFxa6vzy7kw7AiRlnyp7ZwAUpzQWxDsAIpAi_-SAfmDC2pM1zEDHcp0MHvVBEoOazFQCiHoCGtk3ph21shWyPo8Ez6I-Y/s320/002+(2).JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXjIJ-AUI6nBBcK-RhWczFOdF5N70bO-hM4NeOBCFAicDshSMGmF53wopPPHJZuQnDqXm_rIlUxdH8RWcb5l0WuxUmX0LGZhMUoRPKkwa-b9z39DZVidFoUKu1JtKQDLKqDS1jxac_w3-E/s1600-h/015.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227134176306146786" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXjIJ-AUI6nBBcK-RhWczFOdF5N70bO-hM4NeOBCFAicDshSMGmF53wopPPHJZuQnDqXm_rIlUxdH8RWcb5l0WuxUmX0LGZhMUoRPKkwa-b9z39DZVidFoUKu1JtKQDLKqDS1jxac_w3-E/s320/015.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Well, if you want to see more (although you may not have wanted to see this much!) you will just have to come and visit me! It was the day he got his braces put on. He was dreading this day because he just didn't want them, because they weren't cool! But, alas, when you have a <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">ti nee</span> tiny mouth, you have to stretch it out for all those adult size teeth. So, we started the day by having everyone get their normal 6 month cleaning and exam. That way, Cody's teeth would be super clean before putting on the brackets. Nobody had a <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">cavity</span>, except for Cody. And, it was on a tooth that was going to be covered by a bracket. So, it had to be filled while we were there. The room that has the laughing gas was already being used. So, Cody had to get the dreaded shot to numb up his mouth. So, that was great fun! Then, there's the fact that...</div><div>Cody hasn't been able to get in the pool at all for over a week, because he got an infection in each of his ears. He has tubes, and even with the ear mold plugs, he still got one. So, he's been on medicine for that. It was time for his 10 day re-check, to see if things were clearing up. The doc said that things weren't cleared up yet, and we would need to bump up in medicine, and drops into each ear--and still no pool. That one was the kicker! He begged me all day to go in the pool, because he would just keep his head above the water. It was hard to tell him no. So, his mouth hurt from getting the braces on, was numb for quite some time, his ears were still draining some fluid and he had to start taking a really NASTY tasting medicine... and he <strong>couldn't get in the pool</strong>. Bummer day! But, he's doing better now as he's eating really soft food.</div><div>Things will be 100% better when his friend Erin is available to play again. That was the other bummer thing for a few days. His best buddy was gone, so he didn't have anyone he wanted to play with!</div>The Stradling 5http://www.blogger.com/profile/04995021544266519284noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765430646201668235.post-83256346616253144572008-07-05T13:51:00.000-07:002008-07-05T14:13:14.277-07:004th of July!!!<div><br /><br /><div><br /><br /></div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAzz0oQC_iep-RV0d_L-ESh1BZa_dgUTc3HDmAp9qT4ZgOf2UtEyBFLtudkRYUvr_Zi35tbSLLjVXoT-3CpQUDBFmXF7ExZWFjfQS7kCdLC67MmLbBes1jFXvYLZQ2UwHc1cv9n8CEP32p/s1600-h/006.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5219636566553071186" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAzz0oQC_iep-RV0d_L-ESh1BZa_dgUTc3HDmAp9qT4ZgOf2UtEyBFLtudkRYUvr_Zi35tbSLLjVXoT-3CpQUDBFmXF7ExZWFjfQS7kCdLC67MmLbBes1jFXvYLZQ2UwHc1cv9n8CEP32p/s320/006.JPG" border="0" /></a> Yesterday was lots of fun, as I had the family over for a BBQ and to just hang out and talk or swim in the pool (it was the first swim of the summer, so really anticipated by the boys!). He was the only boy receiving an award, so Pack Meeting was really fast. That may be why it didn't seem like more of an affair for him. He's already gone to his first Bear den meeting, and still seems to be loving scouts as much as ever. He is always excited to go and do any activity that involves scouts, as he's always been very willing to try new things. He also earned one gold arrow point, and is working for more silver arrows now. He's seen both Jacob and Jeremy get to do all kinds of fun things as a part of scouts, so he gets a little impatient at times to go camping or work on bigger merit badges like swimming and biking. So, for now, he's going to be working on lots of belt loops that are the same type of thing only scaled down. It's nice enough outside now (although way tooo hot!) for just about any activity (if you have sunscreen, a hat, and a gallon of water!). </div>The Stradling 5http://www.blogger.com/profile/04995021544266519284noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765430646201668235.post-54795651450350124482008-06-30T18:54:00.000-07:002008-06-30T19:24:25.068-07:00Cody turns 9 (Officially)<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUk8hCIU3ABpnPE5IxgqUKzHxLNYDgosjIecrZ2nVaL_l8j2WF4jBdgveVvxrOC4NRY7TPPHT3G-o6IB3nD-IrVwTGwTqTtHL-zvgiEKuvGBfT95ICd0qn4jC58gWenaNoZfFxDRCX6CxY/s1600-h/Cody's+9th+Birthday+010.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5217862931383761442" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUk8hCIU3ABpnPE5IxgqUKzHxLNYDgosjIecrZ2nVaL_l8j2WF4jBdgveVvxrOC4NRY7TPPHT3G-o6IB3nD-IrVwTGwTqTtHL-zvgiEKuvGBfT95ICd0qn4jC58gWenaNoZfFxDRCX6CxY/s400/Cody's+9th+Birthday+010.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGZaGiAq7RTxLgwR9Gxrrz7sl7YcIv0Pyw4nzfVn2UsB4nOwAiJh0sN0B3TMApKP_yHKvI1EkcUZdJIyiIalP-rxV8hxO2SXIlSRB-BpXfOjgnMWFq6dInyX-Z_bgYkKsTWxcqae0XOqJD/s1600-h/Cody's+9th+Birthday+010.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizsQv8ImKwcrObbh8VM_6eXb31HLUU_BgCvi-QSck6qKiybKWMQF_vkIsXTeOnvp-DpL590r57BzFuyB2MXzuptDHjpoc7HTJbKuhLJyIXYwHIlbhO5e4HoGp3pfmzK8JLAHxFWMKstoPr/s1600-h/Cody's+9th+Birthday+010.JPG"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>I say Cody "officially" turned 9, because his birthday is on the 23rd. However, this year, he mainly just opened presents from family and had cake and ice cream with his family. The party is going to come during this next week when our cement has finished curring, and we get our pool set-up. He is really looking forward to that, and, it's quite funny, but most of the children that will be there are girls!! Cody is such a great guy that all the girls already love him! But, don't tease him about having a girlfriend, or you'll see a flood of tears. We learned that today, as big brothers were being "mean" saying that our neighbor Erin that he plays with was his girlfriend. Oh the drama!! But, he felt better when he went shopping later with his Walmart gift certificate from his cousins in Idaho, and came home with a score of fun new toys. Imagine that--toys can cure almost anything at this age!</div><br /><div></div><div>You can still see a few of the boxes left to unpack, but I'm almost there! He doesn't get to play with babies very often anymore, so he loves it when he g<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJZFrOlS4_2v3ua5BJZw-fA_Hx_4A48q82L4gPHAz0VODrjJFWjC7AMGR1fx_fFffJRicYW2dh28FtJymplrmTVo5p1WDGBpYvwBM89nn7jwHUqbqqIldE19-X2zvEg1JdGWlKjX-mH_F9/s1600-h/Maddox's+First+Birthday+025.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213999311200387170" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" height="260" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJZFrOlS4_2v3ua5BJZw-fA_Hx_4A48q82L4gPHAz0VODrjJFWjC7AMGR1fx_fFffJRicYW2dh28FtJymplrmTVo5p1WDGBpYvwBM89nn7jwHUqbqqIldE19-X2zvEg1JdGWlKjX-mH_F9/s400/Maddox's+First+Birthday+025.JPG" width="342" border="0" /></a>ets the chance.<br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyeqJs53KB_93-pWemQTy7mMdfQ5YXlHhi2erb7fDCdPYuOW4NTPd3_MRkjJDfcV859oQnB0CPTmTNDNxjAYA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPyuyT5GNCrfXpyqt3WsLgkqx75wSXnihO6u2RirPKLIF5OzavSd1V7JWmfbcCajhj21tDyWUDdbx2vZvDJNL_5jV_Eo3T5yg18PqzYo10YLimKfeUegYGqnqOoPcFXz-HNOOkbKRjXAYV/s1600-h/Maddox's+First+Birthday+003.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214002357996324482" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 287px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 236px" height="280" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPyuyT5GNCrfXpyqt3WsLgkqx75wSXnihO6u2RirPKLIF5OzavSd1V7JWmfbcCajhj21tDyWUDdbx2vZvDJNL_5jV_Eo3T5yg18PqzYo10YLimKfeUegYGqnqOoPcFXz-HNOOkbKRjXAYV/s400/Maddox's+First+Birthday+003.JPG" width="342" border="0" /></a> Jacob and Cody were having a great time on the trampoline, as you can see by their crazy jumps!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipnobC8qLQGGvcCpgzKgCjl8lziszUmSnJHEgmdtR8qny3HCbC_eeboF5BDtVZRRBP97Qgz2U0tKaOrd0k63npUaK54GRk-_D24mr3_kJTM3gudN2dqPF6NjBq8R-mkp0D7dY62hF0hA3a/s1600-h/Maddox's+First+Birthday+010.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214002839987110034" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 314px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 223px" height="200" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipnobC8qLQGGvcCpgzKgCjl8lziszUmSnJHEgmdtR8qny3HCbC_eeboF5BDtVZRRBP97Qgz2U0tKaOrd0k63npUaK54GRk-_D24mr3_kJTM3gudN2dqPF6NjBq8R-mkp0D7dY62hF0hA3a/s400/Maddox's+First+Birthday+010.JPG" width="314" border="0" /></a></p>The Stradling 5http://www.blogger.com/profile/04995021544266519284noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765430646201668235.post-9815939260900443612008-06-18T08:40:00.000-07:002008-06-18T13:18:40.796-07:00What's New On The Homefront<div>Well, now that school is over, and summer has begun, I think I might be able to get in here more often, and give you a glimpse of what is keeping me busy.<br /><br />Jacob graduated from 8<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">th</span> grade at Reagan Academy, and is looking forward to attending 9<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">th</span> grade at <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Mapleton</span> Jr. High. He has already gone to Youth Conference-a trip to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Nauvoo</span>, and then to scout camp, at Camp Maple Dell. He's been the busiest of us all. He has been working really hard on his art-car-portfolio, and his juggling. I don't have his pictures from <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">Nauvoo</span> yet, but those are coming. I'm going to put some in here of his car portfolio and camp.<br /><br /><br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dz_RI0zEHxaxsIObsxFLvuYRlkOmvFORZLYOEw5GV4FuGhaEf6MSIgt4ztljP6YK54EsbrySjkgpmWoAQ-Kzg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx65kZAhfBGS6BOySLvtLUSzVScmROv3IyASRZ-lDnjQitwpVXWagoC8s7aZdKjih3-NIPYPuha-ab4nV26ECjToM1GpcI8LzLg2X_T8eOpcrvvM6_xxKWE5X3CwONNn7qZzabizH834Ce/s1600-h/009.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213290136948206770" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx65kZAhfBGS6BOySLvtLUSzVScmROv3IyASRZ-lDnjQitwpVXWagoC8s7aZdKjih3-NIPYPuha-ab4nV26ECjToM1GpcI8LzLg2X_T8eOpcrvvM6_xxKWE5X3CwONNn7qZzabizH834Ce/s400/009.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />Jeremy graduated from 6<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">th</span> grade at East Meadows Elementary, and is now in summer school with the Sunrise Program, which he will be attending in the fall as a 7<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">th</span> grader at Spanish Fork Jr. High. How did my boys get this big?! He too, went to Camp Maple Dell, and had a pretty good time. Doug went along, and I think he had just as much fun as the boys. You can see all the fun pictures on the slide show. Doug's real fun comes when he goes on <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">Mtn</span>. Rescue training. He goes repelling, and cave spelunking, etc. He loves it! Although, he of course doesn't like it when people are in trouble and needs him, in the sense that someone is hurt or has died. But, he has already helped bring one boy down successfully a few weeks ago.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtrMgzkJwrDE_ub0Ma_dUQ_7VfT3lhfSprGFn2klJcXnhOe9UZ9hlo3FZ2nrfjk1o2V412To7gsPP7CRFvD85T8PqDUi6ZmYxryZgjPMHyB3BqQpKw5_qhVKvPj9gZoijSgZknID3pyMg8/s1600-h/IMG_0033.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213291920373030594" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtrMgzkJwrDE_ub0Ma_dUQ_7VfT3lhfSprGFn2klJcXnhOe9UZ9hlo3FZ2nrfjk1o2V412To7gsPP7CRFvD85T8PqDUi6ZmYxryZgjPMHyB3BqQpKw5_qhVKvPj9gZoijSgZknID3pyMg8/s400/IMG_0033.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Doug has been working faithfully on our little garden (which is the only green we have in our yard at present, excluding the flower pots on the porch). He is hoping that we didn't plant to late in the season and we'll still get some good fruit and veggies by the end of the summer. I got Doug a gift certificate to Home Depot for Father's Day, as he really wants to start building a shed. He finished building a workbench for the garage, so now he is really <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">ency</span> to keep going!<br /></div><br /><div>Cody will be turning 9 this next week. It's hard to believe--time is going by so fast! He doesn't know it yet, but he is getting the motorized scooter he has been wanting. Then, as soon as our new cement patio cures, he will be able to have a swim party. He is the luck one who gets to do this pretty much every year, since he is the one with the summer birthday.</div><br /><div><br />I've finished my 1st year teaching-<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">Yaah</span>! and now I'm just going to some music trainings here and there, and working on putting my house together--I'm almost ready for the pictures to go on the wall. Might be able to paint? We'll see. I got my classroom all rearranged and ready for next year, so that was a relief before I left for the summer. I have lesson planning still to do--but, I don't feel so tight on time. I'm going to show you a few pictures-in a quick <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">slide show</span>, of my fun classroom and all of the instruments <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_12">Mapleton</span> Elementary has been lucky enough to have.<br /><br />We just celebrated my brother <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_13">Morri</span> 's birthday, and we've got cousin Maddox and Alex, as well as Cody during the next week. So, I should have some fun pictures from these events, too, although they will come after this post. I think that's it for now--talk to ya later!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGi2Rpj05euqi1Pcm48Y6FGM1AzQ7nLpNqEnhEIn_TfC49DC7DMDPJjDHEU6wuaMGHCRdSBOotyqa5ev6MIOw5hQh9TQcHfmXLqFznKLIl2hZr0JBkTq-_fLKyokDG21LHrCknY_RmEaSI/s1600-h/The+Whole+Gang.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213293045005697442" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGi2Rpj05euqi1Pcm48Y6FGM1AzQ7nLpNqEnhEIn_TfC49DC7DMDPJjDHEU6wuaMGHCRdSBOotyqa5ev6MIOw5hQh9TQcHfmXLqFznKLIl2hZr0JBkTq-_fLKyokDG21LHrCknY_RmEaSI/s400/The+Whole+Gang.JPG" border="0" /></a></div>The Stradling 5http://www.blogger.com/profile/04995021544266519284noreply@blogger.com2
